Q. What is the weather like in Palm Cove?A. Palm Cove enjoys the benefits of a tropical climate. The dry season is typically from May to October. This is also the coolest time of the year with average daily temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C. The warmer months are November to April with daily temperatures usually from 30°c to 32°c. The majority of rain falls in the warmer months.
Q. Does Palm Cove have any notable events?
A. The far north region has numerous events throughout the year, some of which include the Port Douglas Carnivale, the Cairns Amateurs Race Carnival and the Festival of Cairns.
Q. How far is Palm Cove from Cairns?
A. Palm cove is 25 kilometres north of Cairns. It is a comfortable 25-minute drive on the dual carriage Captain Cook Highway.
Q. How can I get to Palm Cove?
A. There are many forms of transport available to Palm Cove. From the airport, which is approximately 20 kilometres you can hire a car, taxi, limousine or coach bus.
Q. What are the shopping facilities at Palm Cove?
A. Palm Cove has a variety of fashion boutiques and artwork stores and souvenir shopping. Conveniences include a post office, automatic teller machine, tavern and bottle shop, supermarket and delicatessens. The nearest major supermarkets and banks are located at Clifton Beach, which is approximately 3 kilometres south.
Q. Where are the nearest medical facilities?
A. Local doctors are located in an adjoining suburb at the Clifton Beach Shopping Centre. An ambulance service is located at Smithfield, which is approximately 10 kilometres to the south. Cairns has extensive private and public hospitals as well as day surgery facilities.
Q. Is there mobile phone coverage at Palm Cove?
A. Yes, Palm Cove has good mobile phone coverage.
Q. Are there a variety of restaurants within Palm Cove?
A. Because of its significant appeal as a holiday destination, the Palm Cove area supports a variety of award-winning restaurants located on the foreshore esplanade and within the resort properties. These Palm Cove hotels and restaurants range from tropical fine dining to casual takeaway. The fine dining restaurants include Far Horizons at Angsana Resort and Spa and Corals Restaurant at the Sebel Reef House and Spa.
Q. Do the cruises that go to the Great Barrier Reef pick up from Palm Cove?
A. Yes you can arrange for a bus transfer coach to pick you up and take you either into Cairns or Port Douglas to access the reef.
Q. How far is Port Douglas?
A. Palm Cove is located approximately halfway between Port Douglas and Cairns. The travel time to Port Douglas is approximately 40 minutes.

A. Yes, the Palm Cove beach is patrolled by Surf Lifesavers.
Q. Where are the nearest golf courses?
A. There is a championship course at Paradise Palms, approximately 5 kilometres to the south and the Mirage and Links courses at Port Douglas. There are also two local district club courses, located at Yorkeys Knob and the other on the south side of Cairns. All the courses welcome public use of their facilities.
Q. Where do the game fishing charter boats depart?
A. Fishing boat charters depart from the Marlin marina at the Pier Shopping Centre in Cairns and from the Yorkeys Knob marina.
Q. What other sporting facilities are available in Palm Cove?
A. There is a range of water sports available on the beachfront and the Novotel Resort, which adjoins Sanctuary Palm Cove, has health club facilities and tennis courts available for your use. There is a 25-metre heated pool within Sanctuary Palm Cove. An Olympic size swimming pool is located at Smithfield, which is approximately 10 kilometres to the south. Horse riding is available at Palm Cove and most sports and recreational activities are represented in the Cairns area.
Q. What are the dress standards in Palm Cove?
A. The dress standard is very much resort and casual.
Q. Where is Sanctuary Palm Cove located?
A. Sanctuary Palm Cove is located on 1.2 hectares of land on the northern end of Palm Cove. The property adjoins the Novotel Resort and is less than 50 metres from the Palm Cove foreshore.
Q. Can I walk from Sanctuary Palm Cove to all the facilities and activities in Palm Cove?
A. The location of the property is ideal. You will not need to use a car to get around the Palm Cove precinct and foreshore. It is an easy stroll to all that Palm Cove has to offer.
Q. Is Cable TV available?
A. Yes, including news, movies, children's channel and sports.
Q. How secure is the property?
A. The main Entry Avenue is accessed through security controlled pedestrian and vehicular gates. At this point there is also an intercom to provide audio contact. Each basement car park has security access gates.
Q. What on-site facilities are available?
A. Apartments are superbly appointed so it is hardly necessary to enjoy the rest of our expansive 3 acre tropical surroundings. However we recommend using our onsite facilities such as :
a) Swimming pool: A 25-metre heated pool with a spa, spacious timber deck areas for sunbathing and relaxation, and
b) BBQ Facilities - enjoy the Aussie outdoors and cook up a tropical storm with our onsite barbeque facilities.
